Life has this funny way of handing you exactly what you need, only it rarely shows up in a pretty package with a bow on top.

The JOY TAP

When chaos hits, you need something you can reach for, something grounding, fast, and effective. Enter: the JOY TAP.

It’s a three-step method I’ve developed, and it’s helped me and countless others move through anxiety, dysregulation, and overwhelm in real time.

Here’s how it works:

1. T – Touch the Truth
Place your hands on your arms or the back of your neck. Feel your body. Come back to it. Then ask yourself:
  • What am I thinking right now?
  • What am I feeling?
  • What do I want to do or feel pressure to do?
This gets you out of your spinning mind and back into your center.

2. A – Activate the Joy
Now that you’re grounded, it’s time to plug into the joy. Open a Joy Photo Album on your phone—yes, make one.
Fill it with pics of people, places, or memories that light you up. Or maybe it’s a voice note or song that hits just right.

Let that sensory joy start to wash over your nervous system.

3. P – Play Both Sides
Now that you’re calmer, explore the possibilities:
  • What if this doesn’t go how I want—can I be okay with that?
  • What if it does—can I enjoy it and remember I deserve it?
Most of us get stuck in “all or nothing” mode. This step helps you find your center again.

Remember
This isn’t about perfection, it’s about presence. Because here’s the truth: You haven’t lost your greatness. You haven’t lost your joy, your power, your brilliance.

You’ve just forgotten. For a moment. Or a season. Or in the rush of trying to hold it all together.

"You still deserve joy. You can still find joy. You still deserve to stand proudly in your spotlight."
